So I recently bought an old second hand system. ASRock H67M-GE/HT motherboard with an i5-3570k and 16GB of Dominator Plat ram. The problem is that I can't get past the BIOS. I'm kinda lost right now.

BIOS settings are configured correctly I think. SATA controller(s) are enabled. SATA mode selection is set to AHCI. Boot Option #1 is set to the designated hard drive. It shows AHCI P1: CT250MX500SSD1. I also can't seem to boot from an USB anymore.

I tried a clean Windows install. That worked for one boot, got me into Windows, but after that I'm in the infinite BIOS boot loop I am in now. I can't boot from the USB anymore either like mentioned above. Puts me straigt back to the BIOS.

CMOS battery was cleared as well. Didn't help either.

I tried different RAM configs, different sticks in different DIMMs. Didn't help either.

Tried to load UEFI defaults, ofcourse didn't work.

Tried different SATA ports + cables.

So yeah I'm kinda at a loss as to what I can do. I can literally only access the BIOS at the moment without even seeing Windows are a Windows installer screen.

BIOS update is the only thing that comes to mind.

If a default reset and cmos clear does not fix the problem and (presumably) you configured everything correctly, its either that the board is broke or the BIOS in itself is shot.

It might also be worthwhile to try a different HDD/SSD, that one you are using might be broke... and just for good luck: unplug the CD/DVD drive if it has one. Like completly, sata + elecricity.

For some magical reason the pc finally decided to boot into windows, I applied a BIOS update, but to no avail. It proceeded to have the same issue occur again. Makes me think there is not something wrong with the motherboard. Otherwise it wouldn't have booted into Windows. I think.

It could actually be related to fastboot as johnny pointed out. So might give that a shot if you can get into windows again...

Otherwise, as the bios "reinstallation" did not fix it, its with a high certainty the motherboard. Though it is always worth a shot to look for an absolut beginners guide on how to setup your specific motherboard model. Maybe there is some "300 IQ" setting that some "genius" put in which needs to be enabled on that single and 2 other boards around the world to make it work properly.

Sounds oddly specific, but I will try it if I can get into Windows again!

Iam not sure if i got the same style bios on my asrock h61m-s but you can take some pictures of your bios and drop it here maybe we can see something !

I want to see boot priority tab and every site in that direction ! Storage configuration , southbridge and stuff would be great too

Hey @Johnny Relentless sorry for the late response, here are some pictures from the bios.

Take note: Under storage configuration it says SATA Mode Selection set to IDE, it doesnt matter if its set to IDE or AHCI, doesn't boot into Windows either way.

Fastboot hasnt solved the issue either. Was able to boot into Windows once and confirmed fastboot was enabled but it didnt help.

Greetings

I want you to disable fastboot inside bios not enable !.

And i dont see the option in your bios ! Because of that iam sure your bios isnt latest version !! After you flashed latest it will show the option !  Just for knowledge

Fastboot is an option inside bios

And inside Windows you can enable disable too but that doesnt change anything because windows is forced to use fastboot because of the bios

But this Bios dont got the right working fastboot, then Hibernation happens and it restarts to bios window .
