New Motherboard - CPU - RAM (No need to reinstall windows?)

So I had a Gigabyte motherboard with a i7 4790k and ddr3 ram. Just swapped it for Gigabyte z390 Aorus Ultra - i7 9700k and ddr4 ram.

 

To my big surprised it just booted into windows and everything seem to work. Do I really don't need to reinstall windows because I swapped it with a new Gigabyte motherboard or what's going on?

A reinstall is highly recommended to avoid issues that can crop up

I'd really recommend you do a reinstall. Is Windows 10 still licensed as well? It depends how you apply the license. It could be married to the motherboard or a license associated with a Windows account. Fresh hardware, fresh OS install.

When I changed my Mobo and CPU, I did not reinstall windows 10 and I have had no issues. 

What I did do to activate and transfer the licence to the new Mobo and CPU was I created a Microsoft account and linked my old mobo/licence to the account. 

 

From Microsoft's website:

"In Windows 10 (version 1607 or later), it is essential that you link your Microsoft account with the Windows 10 digital license on your device. Linking your Microsoft account with your digital license allows you to reactivate Windows using the Activation troubleshooter whenever you make a significant hardware change."

 

Then I installed new Mobo/CPU.
I then went in to activate windows 10 in the update windows menu, and followed all the steps. 

There is a selection where it talks about hardware change, and select that.

Then I just followed the on screen directions.
