2019 Mac Book Pro or ASUS Strix Hero 3

g335

Hello I have a choice of purchasing a Apple MacBook  Pro 2019 with the 8 core i9 cpu, 16gb of ram(can’t upgrade), 512 ssd, a Radeon 560x $2369.99

or a

Asus Strix Hero 3 with i7 9750h, 512 MVME 2.1 ssd, option to add a ssd, 16gb of ram upgradable to 32gb, and a full RTX 2070 (not max q). $1599.99

computer will be used for graphic design, 3D design and rendering, video editing and gaming.

which is better?

I would like the Mac but like that ram cannot be upgraded and it had a Radeon 560x.

I will use programs rams such as Adobe photoshop, premiere Lightwave 2D, Blender.

You win with either.  Get the one that you feel better about.  Im not sure which 8 core processor that mac has tho.  For best bang for yoru buck I would take the Strix Hero and what not.

Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface / KRK Rokits 10" / Sennheiser HD 650 / Logitech G Pro Wireless Mouse & G915 Linear & G935 & C920 / SL 88 Grand / Cakewalk / NF-A14 Int P12 Ex
AOC 40" 4k Curved / LG 55" OLED C9 120hz / LaCie Porsche Design 2TB & 500GB / Samsung 950 Pro 500GB / 850 Pro 500GB / Crucial m4 500GB / Asus M.2 Card

Can't recommend the 2019 lineup of Macbooks even as an Apple user unless you really need macOS which it sounds like you don't. Pick up the other laptop and if you decide you want a Macbook sell it and pickup a 2020 lMacbook that's expected to have scissor switches again.

Current Desktop Build | 2200G | RX 580 4GB | 8GB RAM | CTRL | Logitech G Pro Wireless

Laptop | 2018 MBA 256/16GB | MX Master

The MacBook has a significantly more powerful CPU, however the 2070 destroys the Radeon 560X. For anything that takes advantage of GPU acceleration or uses the GPU heavily (Gaming, photoshop, many CAD programs, etc...), that'll likely be even more beneficial.

I'd go with the Strix Hero 3 out of the two. Not only is it much cheaper, but you'll also be able to game on it, and it'll handle most anything you need to do without too much difficulty.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Just get anything but the mac, so that your laptop has proper cooling when you have to do rendering.

There's plenty of other options that have an i9 with a 2060 or 2070 as well.

I'd get the fattest laptop you can find so that you have the best cooling for the components.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I'm not sure if there's even drivers for nvidia GPUs on MacOS anymore.

I'd go with Gigabyte Aero 15 with 4K OLED display and GTX 1660 Ti or RTX 2060. The Strix Hero 3 is too gamer-y to be a workstation, while the Macbook Pro (still imo) has suboptimal thermal solution for rendering

As a creator, that 4K screen is worth dying for

CPU: Intel Core i7 10700K 8C/16T @ 5.2GHz All Cores -- CPU Cooler: EK AIO 360 D-RGB

 Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-F Gaming -- RAM: G-Skill Trident Z 32GB (16x2) DDR4-3000

SSD#1: Samsung PM981 256GB -- HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB -- GPU: ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 3080 10GB OC MSI GTX 1070 Duke

PSU: FSP Hydro G Pro 850W -- Case: Corsair 275R Airflow Black

Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ 1440p 165Hz -- Keyboard: Ducky Shine 7 Cherry MX Brown -- Mouse: Logitech G304 K/DA Limited Edition

Phone: iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB

Headphones: Sony WH-1000XM4 / Apple AirPods 2

Laptop: MacBook Air 2020 M1 8-core CPU / 7-core GPU | 8GB RAM | 256GB SSD

TV: LG B9 OLED TV | Sony HT-X9000F Soundbar

Just watch the video linus uploaded today

But for a laptop you would be dual booting, or using a VM without a dedicated GPU in it. Also not sure if macOS even supports nvidia cards right now.
