Seeing how Linus has recently put out a review for the Zenbook pro duo and I am looking for a new work/play laptop, I figured there is no better place than here to ask this. I am currently attempting to decide between the blade 15 (i9 with 2080 and either FHD or UHD) and the new zenbook pro duo (max specs) and I am looking for some advice on which to choose.

Both of these units have some pros and cons for me as follows:

Blade 15:

Pros:

-option for a high refresh rate monitor

-more powerful 2080 for increased gaming performance (I do a lot of gaming. Mainly wow classic, RTS, and FPS)

Cons:

-only 512gb ssd for storage

-razer synapse (I hate synapse 2 but haven't had any issues so far with synapse 3)

Zenbook pro duo:

Pros:

-dual display (I am extreme when it comes to multiple displays. My desktop has 3 at all times and sometimes 4 if I have my drawing tablet in use)

-better processor

-more storage

Cons:

-slightly heavier

-only a 2060

I want to make a decision based on not using an egpu because I already have multiple desktops for this. The main reason I am deciding between these 2 are due to the fact both of these are outstanding laptops and don't have the "gamer" look that most gaming laptops have these days. Any input or suggestions are really appreciated!

Avoid the Blade. It's got severe issues ranging from overheating and cooking itself to overloading and melting power adapters. It's also proven very unreliable and failure prone with extremely high failure rates and DOA units. Trackpad on them also frequently fail and Razer support is useless. In most cases users spend two to three months before q replacement is sent. Just don't bother.

Interesting, I didn't  know it suffered from issues like that. Is it across all the blade 15 models or limited to certain skus?

All. The power adapters are too small and run extremely hot causing the wires to melt and fall apart. Razer is refusing to do anything about it despite hundreds of users reporting the issues.

The thermals are a different story. The fans are run to their brink causing the laptop to sound like a jet engine so that temps can be contained. Meanwhile, the chassis becomes soldering hot and cools the battery to death.

Multiple internal power rails are also overloaded and run out of spec causing them to fail quite a bit faster than they should.

I'd razer were using high quality caps and fets this could be avoided but since most of the electrical components are quite low end you end up with lots of random failures when the CPU and GPU are both loaded (aka gaming)

The Blades sell mainly on Razer marketing the laptops themselves are rather poor internally and most users or experienced technicians will readily tell you to look elsewhere. I'd this were a 800$ laptop, I'd say to be expected but since razer are charging near triple that amount for the mid range condigs, it's absolutely inexcusable. Just so some basic googling and you'll come across a myriad of users reporting problems and razer support ignoring them or refusing to issue tickets at all

I was actually just looking at the Zephryus 701 with the 2080. It looks very solid. The lack of extra display is still a drawback but the 2080 is nice. I guess the big question is how long a 2060 will be theoretically viable. Nothing is worse than not being able to use a 3k laptop in 3 years because it can't run anything decent.

I'll be getting my Zephyrus GX502 with 2070 (not max q) in around a week or so. If you can wait then I can tell you how it goes. Mine will be repasted btw.

I appreciate the offer but the more I was looking at the zephyrus it just didn't have some of lesser things (ethernet port, dedicated num-pad, and thunderbolt 3) so I decided to actually go with the gs75 with the 2070 and 1tb storage.
