Hello, I have problems with resetting my bios and I haven't found any solutions to this as I tried all known fixes for this issue so I decided to post my issue here.

I basically corrected my RAM speed to 3000MHz instead of 2400MHz which it was currently set on by default. After applying that nothing has showed up and no signal is found to the source.

I have a asus prime b450 plus motherboard that runs on a 3900x in case anyone wonders.

I tried sticking metal objects in between the CLRTC jumper and nothing has been reset, I also tried removing the on board battery and then trying to short the CLRTC jumper but that hasn't worked for me either. I've tried removing the RAM sticks (one stick, none, the other one) to see anything changed but nothing happened either with that.

I have tried basically all solutions on forums but I haven't found any of them working. I wonder if I should buy a new motherboard since the current one (Asus Prime b450 Plus) is pretty lowend. I don't know what to do at this point to be honest. I would love to solve this issue as I tried for 15 days now with different solutions.

Unless ASUS has decided to reinvent how CMOS works then removing the battery for ~5min is the sure-fire way to reset your BIOS. I'd be just as confused as you are if thet hasn't done it.

If this still isn't working for you put a different kit of RAM in the system it'll reset the speed to factory default and should let you back in.

I agree that he has definitely reset the CMOS and ram timings/speed should be reset. Though there is also a reset CMOS button on that board.  I'd assume either the motherboad, cpu, or ram is dead.

I can't think of anything that would break unless he accidentally touched voltages and went too high. Unfortunately the only other thing I can think of is to swap out the CPU & RAM to see if that gets the system POSTing.

He's on Ryzen 3XXX series so there's a chance he upgraded from a 1XXX/2XXX and has that spare. Don't know about the RAM though.

Same but didn't necessarily have to be the speed change. Something could've shorted for example-- coincidental timing. Who knows? If it starts but won't post, and the cmos has been reset, doesn't leave much. I suppose he should check his psu if has a psu tester: make sure the mobo is getting correct power.

This board does not have a button to reset the CMOS.

I did upgrade from a second gen CPU that I borrowed from my friend to update the bios.

Oh. I just flipped through the manual and it had one under pin definitions but I guess they just didn't rewrite the section/ use generic copy in multiple manuals.

May have to borrow it again to see if we can get the system to POST :D.

Out of curiosity how did you adjust the RAM to it's proper speed? X.M.P.? Manually?

I guess it would be manually. I saw the speed was on 2400MHz to I clicked on it and I saw a dropdown list and I choose 3000MHz then I clicked apply and exit and since that nothing has been working.

Well mine stated the CLRTC option with the battery removal which didn't work for me. And yeah no buttons is on mine, it was cheap so I don't have expectations for this motherboard at all. It has literally no LED indicators for issues either.

I don't suppose your friend has some 3000mhz+ memory he wants to lend you to test?

  • 1 year later...

Hello, I know this thread is dead but, today this happened to my ASUS B450 Prime +.

I changed my 3200 mhz rated RAM to 3400 to try to up performance of my Ryzen 2600X, and the black screen appeared.

After trying everything mentioned here and more, I finally accepted that I had bricked my mobo.

HOWEVER, I tryied one last thing I remembered from a Jayz video, swapping the rams, take it out and put it in the slot of the other one.

This finally made it boot. I was in the verge of crying, hope someone sees this and helps their poor soul.

Tinkering with the BIOS is scarier everyday for me.
