Hello guys

A friend of mine has asked me how to do hes radiator fan configuration.

He has a Corsair H100i Pro already and Motherboard MSI MPG Z390M GAMING EDGE AC with a i7 9700K.

He has a lote of fans at home, all high end performance that he got for free).

He still hasn´t all computer parts so he wants to know what correct configuration could he use since he owns a new AIO!

He made me a print LOL that I do not agree much but again, Im too noob to know what is correct, to be fair, I believe its wrong but I hope u guys can show me HOW!

What does he already have? Because the Q300L is pretty bad for radiators.

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Stick it on the front with intakes

the case has almost no directional airflow and doesnt retain enough pressure to get the best airflow out of a top mounted exhaust radiator

oh and just to mention fan configuration because you have a very odd configuration in that diagram

you want your two front fans to be intakes, the single rear fan to be exhaust, the top two fans to be exhaust or not in the system at all

the bottom can be an intake

thats the ideal configuration, though as i said, due to the nature of the q300l being made of swiss cheese, you dont really have the best actual airflow since everything just kinda dissipates out

it may actually be better to have less fans overall, limit to potentially 2 intakes and no exhaust, let it passive exhaust instead, too many fans and no directional airflow = turbulence

He did the diagram. He wants to stick 8 fans in it and btw he made HOLES in the damn positions of the "fan" size.

I warned him that this case is a bad choose!

So he doesn't have the case? Because he should just buy like any other case with standard mesh, like the Coolermaster MB511, otherwise he can drill more holes in the case and get it to be more usable for radiators. Or 3D print some fan ducts to get the radiator away from the side of the case.

And what GPU was he going to buy? as a used RX 480/580 or an RX 5700 are the best value right now.

He has already the case, already made some bigger holes like NEXUS did.

He want´s to buy a RTX 2080 Super.

Probably just make some space between the case and the radiator or fans as well. Longer bolts or anything really. Would put the radiator on top so it doesn't bother the GPU.

Not using the side panel or drilling holes into that for the GPU is going to help as well.

What kind of monitor does he have? As the RX 5700 is more than likely perfectly fine, and is half the price with like 75-80% of the super's performance. With upscaling tech to cheat out more fps without losing much image quality. Or if he has a more basic monitor he can buy the RX 5700 with a 1440p 120hz ultra wide for example at around $400. I feel I will be unable to save him from himself though.

The nitro just came out too.

1080p 144hz at 27" or 1440p? if 1440p there's no real need to replace it.

Maybe buy a 3D printer with the money saved and make a new side panel for the case...Close to finishing the release for this model cut up for normal printers.

Same Q300L, which is how I know it's terrible for radiators lol. Had to switch to air cooling.
