Need help deciding whether to keep upgrading or just build new PC

Hey guys,

So I built my Gaming PC (well... a friend did) back in 2014, and have only really upgraded the GPU since. My first one died after 4 years then I upgraded to RX 570 4GB, but I wanted more power so I sold that yesterday, and just today bought a Sapphire Pulese RX 580 8GB... Check out my build here at PC Part Picker. I wanted to get the 2x8GB G Skill DDR3 RAM so that I can keep up with the new games but not sure if I should keep upgrading the build I have now or just sell the whole thing and put it towards a more modern PC build. What you guys think? I also wanted to upgrade storage as well but how long do you think I can get this PC to keep up with the modern games? Is it even worth it? Any help and tips appreciated. Cheers

You can get an i7 4770K, 4790K or 5750C. Used. That would improve your performance in CPU intensive games and be less of a bottleneck for the 580.

Also, switching from 8GB to 16GB would go nice with the CPU upgrade.

The thing is, with the Haswell i5, I don't think you're seeing any improvements with switching from an RX 570 to the RX 580.

But you're right, that PC is at the edge of changing the platform (CPU, MBO and RAM).

I would wait until you can do a mobo, ram, and cpu upgrade. Honestly getting an old i7 or more ddr3 might get you a year or two more out of the system, but it won’t hold up against a modern i5 or ryzen 5. Plus if you go with either of those you have an upgrade path that will last a lot longer.
