MSI Optix MPG341CQR 34.0 or LG 38GL950G 38 inch UltraGear™ Nano IPS 1ms Curved Gaming

That is the big question for the future of gaming for some time to come.  Wait for the 2000 dollars 175hz g-sync nano ips 3840x1600 @ 175hz.  Will someone like me shell out 2000 dollars approve of this costly buy.

How much is the MSI?
Personally, I'd get the best monitor you can afford, because they usually go with you through multiple builds. Especially if you get one at the level that you're looking at. The LG should last you for many, many years to come.

Hey dizmo thank you much for your response.  Well said my friend.  Ya the LG is pretty sick 1ms nano IPS 175hz OCed 3840x1600 on 37.5 inches seems juicy.  I can afford it but as you said it has to stick with me for many years.  I don't want another model monitor to come out in next 2 or 3 years to tople this.

Oh there will undoubtedly be another model that comes out that's better. But that's going to happen no matter what you do. Personally I think it's good, means there's always innovation, they're always pushing forward. I think a better question is this: How long is it going to take GPUs to catch up to the monitor? Pretty sure you won't be getting 144hz on a near 4k display anytime soon ;) I'd say it should realistically last 5 years. So, your cost over time is only $33/month. So for half the cost of a Starbucks coffee a day, you can have monitor bliss.

You're pretty safe for the next year or so AT LEAST... there's nothing in this space that will rival either of these really, short of another manufacturer using the panel, but that would be incremental, nothing 'new'. The monitor industry moves at a snail's pace, so if another monitor were announced today we wouldn't see it available for at least a year anyway.

There are some higher refresh 4K 32" monitors due next year, but regards 38" and 34" UW, the two you've mentioned, or at least the panels they're using, are as good as it gets for the foreseeable future. Personally, I think the 38" is obscenely overpriced for what it offers, but that size/resolution is a nice bump from 34". That said though, given we haven't seen the LG 38" in action yet, and the fact it's IPS, I would expect the strong likelihood of bleed/glow issues there, just as we saw on the 34GK950F/G. IPS monitors only seem to be getting worse in this regard. You don't get that on VA, although the trade off is some black smearing in faster gaming... and the reviews of the MSI highlight this, although it's not THAT bad based on all reviews I've seen. There's a compromise whichever way you go though, and that's the bottom line with any monitor purchase these days... pick your poison and cross your fingers!!

System: Ryzen 7 5800X - Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master - Noctua D15S Chromax - 32GB 3600 RAM - EVGA Black 2080Ti
