I just wanted to report it .. the admin team for LMG can get it sorted .. using Linus's face for unauthorized ads I think is serious enough ... 

 

I thought it was a LTT video then saw the ad from Buyoud or something .. lol

When this finally gets resolved, I kinda wanna hear about it on the WAN show. Like, how the hell something like this happens, what YT is not doing to prevent it/how they catch it, and if anyone gets in trouble and how I can get that free iPhone.

Another channel I suppose? Persistent pricks. Pretty sure it was mentioned in the Wan Show that Youtube banhammered the channel that did this before.

Those ads are fake and do not have permission from LMG to use Linus' image. Don't click on them or follow any of the links in the video. Thanks for reporting it.

They're different accounts. My guess is YouTube keeps pulling them down and they just create new accounts and put them back up. Like playing whack-a-mole.

I guess this is where facial recognition would come in handy. Kinda like the auto copyright thing on YT right now, but for shyte like this. So it would be programmed by the company with everyone's photo (maybe even company logos) and if detected, it automatically flags and removes/hides the content (ads in this case. I don't think this would be a good idea on videos). But if this was implemented as a real thing, it would suck at first. Either skipping over/not detecting a face, or even detecting a look a like as a false positive. Idk. Is something like that really worth it? Maybe, just maybe. That is, if it can be done properly.

I'll start off by just mentioning that I'm new to the forums! So sorry if i format this wrong or do something else thats taboo!!!

 

But nonetheless I just had this, lets say, less than believable ad with Linus's face promoting a fake giveaway on YouTube. I know its par for the course at this point but it's still concerning to see YouTube allowing this stuff to happen. They vet YouTubers so much for advertising safe content, surely they should vet the actual ads themselves?

 

I think it'd be useful if a collection of scam YouTuber face ads were collected maybe?

The YouTube EULA is weird. As far as I understand it, by uploading a video, you give everyone a license to embed or rebroadcast it as long as it's coming from the native player. I Ihink TV stations and the like run into issues because they're rebroadcasting over a different medium.

 

That said, if you're selling something and embedding someone else's video, it's probably best to ask first so you're not a dick. I don't think that blog is doing that though.
