Hey,

I have been trying to OC my 8700k to 4.7 GHz for the last 5 days. I have nto been succseful at all. I have a MSI Edge AC Z390 MOBO and a x52 liquid cooler.I tried every voltage from 1.265 v to 1.31 v and then running Intel Burn Test. Every voltage from 1.265 to 1.275 I think, crashed when I was running the test. Every other voltage from their made didnt crash but Intel Burn test said it was unstable. I have most of my BIOS settings on Auto btw and I dont really know what to do. I tried doing the same thing in 4.6 GHz but it didnt work. It only started working at 4.5 GHz. If someone could help me that would be amazing.

Thanks,

Anthony

Set at 4.8, voltage 1.25 (if not stable - try 1.28), LLC (LoadLine Calibration) to 4 or 5, disable turbo boost (or any other automatic boost), increase power limit for long and short term use (at start to 130W), and try then. Rest of settings I must see in my bios (I don't remember exact values, but these are good start).

Also depends on the chip, and the VRM quality of the board.  You will need 1.30v and see how 4.7Ghz runs then raise OC if you like and what not.

What's the power limit?

So should I put it at 130w. And also what do you think about the CPU deterioration thing

I think don't worry about that. It's like you be afraid 15 years ago that your new core quad will degrade. Now is worth about 50$. So even if your cpu will be somehow worse by 2% after 10 years, you'll have probably 24 cores intel i9 49900k @6.0 GHz then and asking how to overclock it to 7.5GHz stable at 1V.

Or, when I see where computers are going now, probably cpu speed will be less important than question "how to mount 40 rgb oled fans with external control panel and is my 1500 Watts PSU enough for them with additional disco ball inside my big pc case. And should I buy extra circus tent for my PC".

So you don't think my CPU is degraded? I tried 4.7 GHz at 1.350 v and it still was unstable

Not really. It is too high voltage imo for 4.7. You asked about parameters, I get l give you my settings. Do you even try them?

I'm pretty sure I did. I'm not home yet but I remember I didn't understand what u were talking about the power limit.

Power limit is only for preventing throttling, not for increase stability. I'm sure you'll find it if you'll dig deep enough (in manual mode).

Good practise is to enter every option in bios just for know what you can do. I'll check my settings later and let you know.
