New PC build freezes with GPU/display error

Hi,

I recently built a new PC. For some reason it keeps freezing/crashing after 2-3 hours of gaming.  I have not been able to figure out the issue. The GPU and power supply was pulled from my old working system so i know they are in good condition.  All the drivers and BIOS are up to date. Here is what i have tried to troubleshoot:

  • Fresh windows install
  • Using a different PCIe slot for GPU
  • Using a different GPU (used GTX 550 Ti, another working CPU)
  • Different configurations of RAM (8/16/24/32 GB)

If anymore information is required let me know. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

PC Specifications.

CPU: Ryzen 3900x
RAM: 32GB
Motherboard: Asus Strix x570-E Gaming
GPU: GTX 1080 Ti
Power Supply: EVGA 750 watts
CPU cooling: 360mm RAD

CPU idle temps: 39-44C
CPU under load temps: 50-60C

GPU idle Temps: 55-60C

Try a different hard drive or SSD maybe?

Or the power supply is the only thing left besides that.

Is the motherboard bios updated?

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

SSD is brand new. I had run disk check but found no issue and BIOS is up to date.

unfortunately, I do not have another power but it should be working find since it was pulled from a working system with the same GPU (CPU was intel i7-4790K) .

could it be a motherboard or CPU issue?

Probably not the CPU or motherboard, it's a pretty random error. You could check your event viewer.

Try lowering the GPU power limit to 50% or something to check if it's the power supply.
