Should I Pick Up a 1440p 144hz Monitor?

Well, should I? Currently my main monitor is an Acer XFA240, this is a 24 inch 1080p , 144hz monitor. Nothing wrong with it, and as I am color blind with red/green, color accuracy isn't my strong suite, so Idk if this is a good panel or not lol. I quite like it, and it is G-Sync compatible, one of the first actually. One comment on it, is that it has a rather fat bezel all around it, since it was first made back when being bezeless wasn't the big craze from what I remember. It seemed a good deal when I got it, but with the building of my system I am curious if I should be looking to go with a 1440p 144hz monitor to gain full enjoyment of my set up and selling the current monitor private party. I am running a dual monitor set up, but the 25 inch side monitor would have no need to be changed. Just a simple 1080p 25 inch acer monitor. Both are mounted on a VESA dual arm mount, which I would like to keep.

PC set up is Ryzen 7 2700 OC, EVGA RTX 2070 XC Ultra (not overclocked yet, if I ever get around to doing it), 16gb ram. The semi usual stuff I suppose. So my question is, is it worth it to upgrade, or is it worth it to wait to see if 1440p becomes the new 1080 and drives prices down, and is it worth it to make this change with my set up? I know that the 2070 can push the frames, but I would like to keep above 100-120 FPS minimum in just about every game even with 1440p on whatever settings I choose. Currently the game I play most is BF5, and I can get around 120-140 fps pretty regularly with lower settings (less distraction on screen and more frames), and I would not want to dip below 100 for sure. From what I know this game is really taxing on components so that is why the frames are only 120-140 even with lower settings. I plan on picking up Borderlands 3 and I want to be able to play a game like that maxed out with high frames.

Generally, competitive shooters I play on low settings, and games that are less competitive in that nature I play on the highest settings but I want to keep my frames up.

Expectations:

Keep 100+ fps in most if not all games

27 inch screen, no larger for fear of having issues with my dual monitor stand and keeping my set up how I like it

Price is always the question lol.. What is reasonable? I don't need crazy features, just semi decent color accuracy for gaming, 1440p and 144hz. Also needs to be VESA compatible

G-Sync or G-Sync compatible since I'm running an Nvidia card. This to me gets a bit confusing since it seems that you can tun on G Sync with some Free sync monitors even though they arent' on the Nvidia approved G-Sync compatible list.

Last, any recommendations? My buddy is using this monitor and he loves it. Seems like a steal right now at $279.. Too good to be true?

Ohh my bad, I forgot to mention, budget I would like to stay under $350... Now I know this will get some laughs, but I don't need all the high end features, and was hoping a deal in the rough can be had.
