5Ghz wifi in range but cant connect

I use 5Ghz wifi regulary but this crappy Virgin Media router has issues handling multiple devices sometimes.

How is it possible that my iPhone and my flatmates iPad are getting 5Ghz but my PC just cant connect no matter how much I try while 2.4Ghz works fine ?

My iPhone and PC are in the same room and even if I disconnect my iPhone from wifi the PC still cant connect. I dont understand whats happening.
This happens occasionally when my flatmate is back in her room. I understand 5Ghz signal can get weaker more easily if there are objects in the way but how come my iPhone has no problems connecting whatsoever right now ?

Could "reserving an IP" for my PC in DHCP settings of the crappy Virgin Media Router resolve this issue ?

I'd recommend getting an AP "SuperHub" is actual trash. Before when I was with Virgin Media I turned off WiFi and used APs. It all depends on your budget.
