Vega 56 not posting after morpheus ii install

Just put a new computer together a week ago. Didn't game on it but everything was testing well and the vega 56 seemed to be running well.

Installed the morpheus ii seemingly without a hitch. Followed the instructions as well as a YouTube video. It was a pretty painless process. Now when I plug it in my mobo is is lighting up indicating VGA errors and I can't get it to post. Mobo works fine with an old gpu.

1. Mobo: ASRock x570 phantom gaming 4
2. Gpu: vega 56
3. Psu: whisper m 750w
4. Cpu ryzen 3600

My son was born Friday and after a lengthy hospital stay we are all home and in good health. Haven't had much time to tinker with this though and was hoping someone could give some advice. Thanks all

Things I've tried

1. Removed backplate and morpheus
2. Tried the single pcie power plug with daisy chain
3. Tried using 2 single 6+2 pcie power plugs
4. Reset cmos
5. Tried both on board Vega 56 bioses

6. Reseated card in pcie slot

7. Tried other slot

8. Tried all display and hdmi ports

9. Tried reseating cooler

10. Power on with fan and msi led plugged in

After number 10 I noticed the led goes ok but the leds on the back that say "gpu tachometer" do not. I now realize they haven't been on since the install, could that be an indicator of something? The msi led does go on though

Take off the cooler check if you crushed the HBM-memory modules. :)

why do you have heatsinks on the input and output filtering?

why does it look like the die is ever so slightly scratched up? like the main die it doesnt matter, but HBM is like the most sensetive thing in the world.

because that looks like a scratch. it shouldnt matter, but its HBM, so its not exactly suprising.

could also be that it will refuse to boot without a fan connected. scratched HBM should still boot. another thing, did you use the soft black side as the mounting bracket towards the GPU?

Pretty sure it's a molded die and there aren't any cracks that I can see. On the second to last picture in the album you can see the die well, maybe I'm just missing it. The scratch was there either always or as a result of removing the thermal paste. I used artic silver removal, a microfiber cloth and no pressure.

I've tried connecting the stock fan to it and it gets power but won't post.  I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the soft black side

have you tried plugging in the fanheader on the board to see if that helps?

Yes, I plugged it in and it seems to get power but won't post

Edit: also I just put extra heatsinks on since I had them. Im not sure which is the input or output and Ive read the chokes don't actually get hot enough to need the heatsinks but I thought I'd include it.

Also I double checked the die and I don't see the scratch as shown in the picture. Maybe there was dust or something on it in the original picture. I tried taking a second picture but it's hard with how shiny it is, hopefully you can see it better. It could also be my camera lens might have a scratch
