Time to replace my 7 years old workhorse. After couple of days researching, threw together this part list, mainly for gaming / coding. Is it ok for 1440p 144hz?

Would like to try some light CPU/RAM overclocking for knowledge and some performance boost. Guess I would need cpu cooler and some extra fans, besides the 2 stock ones that come with the case? Any recommendations?

Location: Germany.

Great build.  Just note that you might or will have to flash the BIOS with button in back of motherboard and usb stick and what not, to make it compatible with 3xxx series.

Would perform pretty well for 1440p 144Hz. As for coding, do you mean compiling huge programs or just typing Java stuff?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Do you really need 32GBs of RAM? As 16GBs with 3600mhz speeds will be better for performance, assuming the upgrade from 3200mhz isn't expensive.

I'd probably just go for the R7 3700X

you can get a non XT card and flash the bios for free performance.

Seems a bit much for just a 1440p 144hz display, why not go for an ultra wide? They're cheap in the US anyways.

Get the Crucial P1 instead. It's significantly better than the SATA SSD and only a tenner more.

Yes, I am aware of that, thanks for the heads up though.

Glad to hear. No huge compilations - gaming should be more resource intensive.

In which case, 16GB is more suitable. You can opt for 3600MHz, or just pocket the savings.

32GB is more for future proofing, and judging by the videos/reviews I watched - these Ballistix sticks should be able to reach 3600.

Did not know about the non XT bios flash, found the reddit post, going to check it out.

More than 27" is too much for me + 2nd monitor is left from the old setup (although its a 1080p)

There's plenty of cheaper 1440p 144hz options in any event. This one just lacks adaptive sync, which isn't too big of a deal for a 144hz display. 300 EUR.

Could entirely eliminate your 2nd display with an ultra wide too though, a lot of them have support for automatically splitting the display in half for productivity stuff.

Good call. At first I was looking at ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, but shelved it as the benefits of NVMe did not justify €50 difference with MX500 to me.

Depending on what kind of coding/programming you're doing a nice NVME drive is going to help a bit, don't have to go as crazy with PCI-e 4.0 RAID 0 here

Valid points. Haven't seen this one as was filtering only for IPS monitors from the start.

Thanks for suggestions, will be checking the ultra wides as well.

This one's 600 EUR on the part picker. Dunno if it's just limited but we can get those kinds of displays for $400 USD over here.

The Sabrent Rocket is better than the Crucial P1.

Yeah. I mean the SX8200 Pro is vastly superior on paper, but I doubt you'd notice it in day to day use.
But for a tenner, the P1 just makes total sense. Even if you might not notice the difference...there's always a chance. It does load games ever so slightly faster ?
