F.E.A.R. Stereo only over Creative optical

Just for shits and giggles, I tossed an old Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (Who comes up with this?) into my PC to try and compare DSOAL and Indirect Sound to the actual thing. It works fine in Halo, sending some form of surround sound to my receiver, but FEAR is only through-putting stereo. I don't have 3.5 analog inputs on my AVR so I'm stuck with optical.
