Wireless adapter for a 5g router

Hello! I need some help choosing a wireless adapter. I recently got  5g router installed with a 500mbs connection but because an unfortunate series of events it would be  too complicated to use an ethernet cable with my desktop. My note 9 gets the whole 500mbs during speedtests so I believe i would need a 1gb wifi adapter. I was wondering if an adapter such as this asus https://www.asus.com/Networking/USB-AC68/ on 5ghz (my pc is fairly close to the router) would be able to benefit from the whole 500mb. Thatks in advance
