I got a new laptop yesterday. Asus FX705DT with ryzen 5 3550H . Doesn't have a ssd.it is really slow . It takes ages to open apps or windows and a lot of the windows stop responding very often. Is it a problem of the CPU or the slow hard disk. I am planning on adding a ssd will it help . My cinebench R20 score is 1400 on normal and 1600 on turbo mode.

WD blue is more expensive than P1 here. P1 is the cheapest ssd here . And then there's Intel 660p

Don't buy QLC junk. Get a decent TLC SSD like the WD Blue or Crucial MX 500. Anything cheaper will come at a hefty compromise
