In home NAS speeds?

I am looking to set up a nas for extra storage in my house. My isp gives me 300mbps down and 30mbps up. But my networking is all 1gbps. In my house will a nas perform at 1gbps or be throttled to the ips speeds of 300 down and 30 up?

 

also, will using a VPN effect the usability of the drive?

If ur NAS ur PC and if u use it ur switch can handle 1G than yes. I have a WD Mycloud NAS and it works perfectly well with 1g.
