How common is it for displays to get good overclocks?

I was bored once i got back to my dorm. So i overclocked my monitor. I got it 75Hz which i think is pretty good. Is it common for displays to be overclockable to 75Hz?

 

My monitor is a Acer V2065WQL

It all just matters on vendor.  That Acer might do 75hz give it a try with custom resolution and what nor.  I might be laggy tho depends on the monitor.

I pushed my monitor to 179hz so far. The default was 75hz.

 

Some monitors can, and some cannot be overclocked without doing some hacking that can damage the display.

wow thats crazy. i got the display because it was cheap and small enough to fit on my desk in my dorm. I'm just surprised it didn't crash at 61Hz

Just keep pushing it until it reaches the limit, if you are in custom resolution it will reset back after 30 seconds. The limits are set by the manufacture so you don't damage the monitor.

 

Also, I'm using a CRT, so the 179Hz clock is at a resolution of 640x480 but, I can do 120Hz and still have HD resolution.
