Hi guys! I just build a new machine with Asus x570 Taichi, and I'm having issues with the on-board WiFi.

The connection is really unstable and slow. I used to use a gigabyte gc-wb867d wifi card at the same location, and the signal was strong and fast. The signal used to be full on the wifi card, but now with the onboard wifi it's only having like 2 blocks of signal

I have installed the latest driver from the board support page, reinstall the driver, and even reinstalled windows. Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

Might seem like a stupid question but, is(are) the antenna(s) for the motherboard screwed in all the way?

Have you tried putting the dedicated WiFi card in and checking signal with that?

Any other changes perhaps that you can think of?

Yeah, I put the old card in and the signal is strong as usual. The antennas are screwed all the way in, which is the first thing I checked. Also tried different position, but it's just 1 block difference in signal strength. Put my phone at the same location and the wifi signal is perfect.

The only thing I can think of is that I changed to a new build LOL

Hmmm, that is pretty odd

Is the speed from a speedtest and reliability about the same with the onboard at lower signal than the dedicated card?

Ok, so apparently my assumptions about my home wifi setup is wrong since I rent this place. I was searching my wifi antenna away from the router THE ENTIRE TIME even though I thought I was getting closer to it.

Thank you @Lurick for staying with we on this journy!!

Something tells me that you have downloaded drivers from Asus instead of Asrock because Taichi boards come from Asrock, not Asus.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

I did download it driver from Asrock since I was just searching with the board name

  • 1 year later...

My x570 taichi onboard WiFi speed seems to be limited to 300mbps (the router and wifi antenna are very close together), and I've had problems with poor signal before, and even twice, the wifi NIC was missing from task manager and wifi settings. I used iperf/jperf to test the intranet speed, the wired connection reached 900mbps, while the wireless connection speed never exceeded 300mbps, I am using an asus ax86u router that supports wifi6 160mhz, x570taichi also supports wifi6 160 mhz, I can see in the router's management page 2400mbps tx/rx rate, I also tried updating the wireless card driver to the latest on the Intel website and clearing the CMOS.
