Hello, I'm here raise awareness about this problem that has been going on for a long time, and amd has done nothing to fix it.

I bought my MSI MAG241C about a month ago, and I noticed brightness flickering in certain games and scenarios, I noticed it the most in CS GO menu but it also happened in other games as well. I then returned this monitor and got an aoc c27g1, it had the exact same issue. Currently I'm using my aoc c27g1 with my rx 580.

You might say "hey it might just be the freesync implementation on those monitors", but the thing is its not just these monitors, it also happens on many more monitors including: msi mag271c,g24c, aoc c24g1, samsung cfg70/cfg73, asus XG35VQ, aoc agon ag322qc4, acer XF270H and many many more, look at this thread if you want more examples https://community.amd.com/thread/215821

Turning it off instantly removes the flickering, and no matter which overdrive setting its set at, or which driver(tried numerous 2017,2018 and 2019 drivers) I use or whichever setting I change it doesn't go away. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4S2w9We5Ag not my video but its the exact same effect).

If anyone has some sort of magic solution to this problem, or any type of anaylsis on this issue your input would be grealy appreciated.

Your 1 RX580 is a single sample size.... you cant validate if its the panel or your card without having multiple cards to test and get a larger sample size. Your scenario here and testing is extremely limited and very flawed as a result.

Well, the issue is somewhere on your end. It would be a far bigger shitstorm if it were a defect. Besides, each monitor vendor implements free sync separately. Unlike with Gsync, and only provides the standard and nothing else. It's down to monitor vendors to build it and implement it.

Did you read my previous message? I've tested it on different systems, on an rx 590 based system and a 1060 based system, and i've also spoken to a guy that has the mag271c and he had the same issue on a vega 56, I've thoroughly tested this

you didnt state that now did you? Only GPU listed in either of your posts in this thread state rx580.. nothing about any other GPUs anywhere... We shouldn't have to go to a different website and thread to find the information you think you posted...

oh and BTW, the link to the AMD community, its invalid.. doesnt go anywhere.

I've thoroughly tried everything with different systems, different cables, different drivers etc, and people have reported the same issue on diff monitors on that thread

I've also searched through almost every samsung VA panel on amazon and searched for "brightness flickering" in the review section, and almost every one of them has at least a few people mentioning brightness flickering on freesync on them(cq32g1, VIOTEK GN27DB, acer ED242QR etc), but when you search through the reviews of an IPS or TN 144hz you get no reports of such issue.

I wish to raise awareness about this issue because most people w/ this issue dont speak out about it, and that's why amd hasn't yet released a driver fix for it. If enough people become aware of this and inform AMD, they may just be pressured enough to release a driver fix for it!

(I've tested different cables, and on different AMD gpus and I also tried a few replacement units, the flickering doesn't disappear)

Im stooped.  Try both hdmi and dp cable. Also connect another port behind your computer and if possible another power cord.

Oh ooops it was soo long I forgot that.  You can try the video card on a different PCI-e slot !  Sorry were just trying to narrow down your problem and fix it and what not.

As I said I tried it on different systems, I've practically tried everything you can think of to make it disappear but to no avail.

Try vsync OFF.  Also try older drivers.

Sorry my bad, the OP was so long I don't remember much of it.  Anyhow once again sorry and Im just trying basic troubleshooting sh*T ya know.  I doubt it is the PSU not giving enough ampage to the card.  Weird issue.  Can we call it a defect or half dead. Do you have warranty left on that board?

It's not the monitor, nor the gpu, nor anything in my system. It's an issue with every samsung VA panel that amd HASN'T fixed.

People that have a samsung va monitor don't speak about it, they're like "oh i can deal with it its fine" and that's EXACTLY the reason amd hasnt tried to fix it. There's no community uproar, I want to make more people aware of it but 1 guy posting on LTT forums isnt gonna do much :/

What happens when this happens and you turn off monitor then turn it back on ?  Still the flickering and what not.
