Hi, first timer here.

I'm going to build a desktop pc mainly do uni stuff (I'm specializing in scientific computation and machine learning, and my current 2 in 1 is painfully slow), with a little gaming on the side.

I basically finalized my build, here it is:

  • CPU: ryzen 5 2600
  • Mobo: asrock b450m pro4
  • RAM: 2x8 Gb corsair vengeance ddr4 cl15 3000 MHz
  • Storage: WD black m.2 nvme ssd 250 Gb + Seagate barracuda HDD 7200 rpm 2 Tb
  • PSU: Corsair CX750 80+ bronze

My main concern is with the GPU and case. After much research I'm pretty much set into buying either a Vega 56 or 64, but I was wondering if I should go with a blower design or an open air one. I'm also set into going with a mATX case (I was considering the Cooler Master Q300L with 3 Corsair AF120, 2 on the front and 1 on the back) but I'm concerned about the thermals, especially if I go with an open air GPU.

Currently in my country I can either go with a Sapphire nitro+ Vega 56/64 or a blower 56 made by either Asrock or MSI.

In your experience, the kind of case + fan I'm thinking about can handle a nitro+ gpu? Or should I go with a blower? Are there better cases/fans in the same price range that could perform better in these regards?

Thanks

Avoid that case from CM, its horrible even with loaded amounts of fans for thermals and airflow...

First, that looks like a green label CX. If so, do NOT buy it. Get a better unit like a TXm 550W. 750W is pointless overkill unless you are running two Vega 64 cards.

Secondly, don't buy Vega. Get a 5700 or 5700 XT.uch cooler, quieter and faster.

Also, get a 3600X or 2600X. They come with the far better Wraith Spire

I was wondering about that, what case do you suggest?

The Vegas are the only choice I have if I want to maximize the performance/price while still being capable of doing deep learning. RocM, which is the main platform to enable machine learning tools on AMD gpus, doesn't have support for Navi (at least for now, but there's no indication they are going to add it in the future, so I prefer not to risk it).

Thanks for the suggestions about CPU and psu, I'll look into it.

Then grab a V56 with an aftermarket cooler and undervolt. That way it will be cool,.quiet and powerful. Avoid blower Cooper's or single fan GPU coolers. Those are shite
