I have added different components to pre built systems in the past but always wanted to build one from scratch.

I am in the process of completing my first build but have a question about the RGB lights. I will first let you all know what I have:

i7 9700K - 9th gen

Asus z370a - ii motherboard

Reeven E12 RGB cpu cooler

Asus ROG RTX 2070

G. Skill Aegis DDR4 16 gigs RAM 3000mhz

WD 1 TB SSD M2

Corsair Carbide Spec Delta RGB case

The case has a bunch of wires in place and RGB cables for the fans that come with the case, looks like it is some splitter and they all go into one. Now the CPU cooler I have has RGB lights as well and I do not see anywhere else on the board to plug that in. Am I missing something or would I need to get a new splitter to connect with the others if I wanted to use the RGB on the cooler? I did not see anywhere else on the board listed as RGB so I think it only has the one 4 pin connection.

Why not a 3700X? It's equivalent to the 9700K in games, 30% faster in everything else, runs cooler, uses less power, comes with a good RGB cooler (Wraith Prism), doesn't suffer from the severe intel security vulnerabilities and has an upgrade path to 12/16 cores or Zen3 next year. 1151 is dead and next refresh is on socket 1200. The only upgrade option is the space heater 9900K

Was not aware of that and I am not changing any parts right now, I have it all purchased and just about installed, still figuring out the cables that get connected to the motherboard.

Ah, sorry. I got the impression that you were still looking at what to buy. Sorry

no worries, I wanted to layout what I had. The question is probably a lot simper, it was really about the RGB lighting with the CPU cooler. I personally do not care about the lighting, if it is there I would like to use it because why not? I am just trying to figure out this setup as there is 4 RGB fans that come with the case that I connect to the motherboard. There is nowhere for me to connect the CPU cooler RGB wire to and am assuming I would need to buy some splitter and add it to the daisy chain of that is already there... though not sure how many you can connect to one.

A fan hub is probably all you need.

new to all this, does a fan hub connect to the motherboard and use the motherboards RGB settings? Apparently there is some standard called "Aura" on the motherboard for controlling RGB lights. Would a fan hub be something separate from this or does the fan hub act as a sort of splitter to daisy chain and get the RGB light from the cooler connected to the motherboard?
