Radeon 5700 or 5700XT

Protongog

Hi all

I was pondering a new GPU and I like a little bit of 1440p 60hz and a lot of 1080p 144hz. My question is do I go for a high end 5700 or a low end 5700xt, in the UK they retail about the same cost.

Any Thoughts

If your playing at 1080p then I would get the 5700 and what not.

What do you mean with "high" and "low" end? the xt is faster than the 5700, so if thats what you mean then you should retype it. Now, when it comes to which one to choose, i would peronally go for the 5700xt in this case. As you state above, they retail for about the same price where you live, so why not spend like 10-50$ more for the 5700xt.

The 5700 XT obviously. Get an aftermarket cooler and enjoy near 2070S performance for cheap

OP is obvs playing at both 1080p and 1440p. The 5700 will drive 1080p144 and 1440p60, but I'd still go for the 5700 XT. Opens up supersampling, maybe some dabbling in 4K, or pushing 1440p144Hz if you decide to move to just one res (1440p144 is pretty much the sweet spot for most gaming).

If it's a small difference, why not get the faster card?

I guess it sorta matters what monitor you have.  At 60hz vsync Your frame rate will never drop below 59fps lol,,,   You would get triple digits frame rates but def 60fps sustained.

It might be just me but I'd still prefer the reference 5700XT at a good discount like we've been seeing than the utmost expensive high end vanilla 5700.

Probably means reference vs high end aftermarket

5700xt for sure. I went from a 2060 to a 2070 at 1080p 144hz and can turn the settings up higher and keep better frame rates at the same time. Always get the card that’s a tier above if it’s close in price
