Ended up buying a used Gigabyte Radeon RX 580 Gaming 8GB Graphic Card, and the errors that occur seem to be double bars or green artifacts.

Was able to get into Bios very easily on my Asrock AB350 PRO4, but ended up switching to my back up GPU in order to switch out since the Gigabyte was of no real use. Tried replacing the thermal paste with arctic silver 5 and mite have to also replace the thermal pads since they seem loose, but feel it mite be even more serious than that. The warranty for this GPU is up so sending it back to the manufacturer is a hard no (warranty was also voided), but I was wondering if there was a to fix this GPU still.

Would wiping out the drivers and doing a fresh install work or would rolling back the drivers to an older setting help. I can tell this used GPU was most likely OT, but was not used for bitcoin mining so I am hoping the VRM is not fried.

After taking a deeper look once I took apart the GPU I did not notice any burnt marks or smells that would lead anyone to believe that the GPU was fried, but I am still very skeptical it still could be.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to bring back this GPU from the dead or if I should just scrap it and use it for spare parts.

Thank you

Artifacts usually point to a damaged memory chip. There is nothing you can do here.

You can try fiddling with different drivers but I doubt it will do anything.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Zotac RTX 5090 SOLID OC/ x2 WD_BLACK NS770 2TBs/ Corsair HX1000i/ NZXT H5 Flow

I was afraid of that, and do to my lack of knowledge w/ soldering I can almost grantee this GPU will be used for spare parts since I have another Gigabyte RX 580 coming in only that one is the 4GB version.

I 'm hoping it mite be a bad driver or maybe even a software issue, but only time will tell after I can make those adjustments of course.

Try last month's drivers with DDU. If that doesn't help, the card is fubar. Also why a second 580?

Thank you - I will give that a shot.
Do you know if it is possible to run both GPUs at the same time on the asrock AB350 PRO4 mobo while attempting to role back the drivers.

The 2nd GPU was a cheap buy online, and I wanted to have a test work bench in place for repair purposes for current and future builds.

Running both GPUs would be a bad. Idea. Crossfire with a broken cars will onlyale thing s worse.

Raises the question how would I be able to use DDU if the GPU only makes it past the Bios screen but not into windows or linux OS. Is there another way to use DDU through command prompt or the asrock bio?

Currently I am using an older GPU to access everything for the time being, but the GPU (Gigabyte RX 580) which is effected only gets into the Bios.

If it's that bad, then the card is certainly toast. RMA or junk it.

Is it possible not to connect the two GPUs by way of Crossfire, and  let each one connect as a standalone gpu instead so the Gigabyte RX 580 can at least use DDU even though it won't be used while the sapphire 4gb GPU stays on as the only GPU which is on.

Sadly the ryzen CPU I am using does not have an integrated graphics which makes it harder.

Nah man, if the card can barely get past bios screen, its dead. No point in wasting time on it.

Never know till ya try right - plus worst case scenario is either doesn't work and I send it back to the manufacturer to be fixed at a cost or use it for parts since my Gigabyte Radeon RX 580 4GB can use the fans and extra parts.

A good time to pick up on some soldering training, and to find out online if I can find a usable memory chip in case that training pays off enough to where I can revive the GPU if all else fails.

Thanks

Confirmed that it is in fact a hardware issue do to Image Artifact which is leading up to a Video_TDR_Failure

Sent out an email to Gigabyte support network on my next step to fix this GPU since it is not under warranty - literally got this GPU for almost free so pending on what the repair costs (and shipping) will be I may end up keeping this GPU and repairing it or just keeping it for spare parts.

This video ended up helping me in the end:
