My rig-

Case: corsair 280x

Mb: msi z370m mortar

Cpu: intel i5 9600k

Cpu cooler: corsair h100i pro

Gpu: asus 1080 strix

Ram: corsair rgb (4x8) 3600mhz

Psu: corsair rm 650wtt gold rated

M.2: corsair mp510 240gb

Hdd: seagate barracuda 3tb

Now thats out of the way, my problem is I can't get my monitor to get signal. The pc starts up fine and everything works. I don't know what else to try to get it to get signal. I've tried-

Changing the cpu (ryzen 3600)

Changing mb (asus prime b450m)

Changing psu (evga  supernova g3 650wtt gold)

Cmos reset

Tested for bad ram (did each individually and 1 test without any)

Tested 2 gpu's (asus 1080 strix and gigabyte 1080 windforce)

Tested mb graphics

Used different connectors(hdmi to dvi, hdmi to hdmi)

Used different ports

Used different screens (monitor and tv)

When I had the other mb and cpu (b450 and 3600), I did have it working and when I tried to update the bios, my cpu overheated and shut down the pc, in the middle of the update (forgot to plug in the cpu cooler). The only parts that I have in the pc now that were also installed when that happened is the ram. Please tell me any tips, advice, or fixes you guys know, that I didn't do. I just started college and almost all my notes and work is done online. Thank you for your help.

it's basically that! A fault with the monitor points to a fault with the graphics, you have to remove the GPU and reinstall it again making sure it was reseated well and properly, check the monitor wiring and relevant hardware such as the power supply, update the drivers, test the memory, and perform the BIOS reset you did already.

Something that you could be missing is to make a discard and try another machine, if the monitor works on another machine then the problem is not the monitor or vice versa, if you try another different monitor and that you know that it is working well does not work on your machine either then the problem is your machine.

If none of the ports definitely works for you, you may have killed it with some update not completed or interrupted spontaneously, such as a firmware update and during that update a blackou occurred causing this problem.

You could also play doing a reset with the jumpers of the motherboard, check if it has a reset jumper in the documentation and do the reset of the motherboard in that way, that has helped me before recovering a system.

Thanks for all the useful tips and info, but I figured out that the problem was with the bios. Z370 motherboards out of the box aren't updated enough for 9th gen cpu's, although z390 motherboards are. Which would explain why there was no signal, the cpu wasn't able to start up the bios because it wasn't compatible with that version of bios. This is the thread that helped me figure that out-
