How to set up duel monitors.

WoodyWoo

I know this has to have been asked like a million times, but I have just been given two monitors for free and what to use them both, I have a ryzen 2700x with a msi 2080 Ventus V2 and have just realised both of the monitors have only 1 hdmi, vga and dvi port, My gpu has only one hdmi port so I dont quite know how to set it up. do I get a hdmi splitter  or displayport 1.4 to hdmi converter.

Displayport to HDMI converter. Just check if it supports the right resolution for you.

HDMI splitter often output the same signal at both ends.

so it would be duplicating not having it as two separate desktops.

Most splitter (I am sure some don't) will duplicate the display.

But if you use a Displayport to HDMI adapter, you can extend your desktop and show something different on either screen. Or you can change the settings to duplicate either way, but with the DP to HDMI solution you have a choice.

Get a converter to take one of the other connections to HDMI.

HDMI does not support multiple streams over a splitter, so would only duplicate the display.
