Hi so I am a software engineering student and trying to pick a laptop for taking to college and for home. I have a main PC and just wanted a more powerful laptop than the one I have. Getting some money from a student refund and was trying to spend less than $550.

I found this one:

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Touch-Screen-Notebook-Computer-Windows/dp/B07R8YTVQM/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1L709SLHQI85E&keywords=ryzen+apu+laptop&qid=1567637224&s=electronics&sprefix=ryzen+apu+la%2Celectronics%2C135&sr=1-4

And this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-10-Radeon-Windows-i5576-A298BLK-PUS/dp/B06XDY3T7T/ref=sr_1_13?crid=MFPET89HMCYI&keywords=gaming+laptop&qid=1567646529&refinements=p_36%3A40000-59900%2Cp_85%3A2470955011%2Cp_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A9647486011&rnid=9647481011&rps=1&s=pc&sprefix=gaming+lap%2Celectronics%2C166&sr=1-13

So many laptops could use some help! Thanks!

The matebook D is a better machine, despite the bit slower processor. It has a 1080p IPS display.

Dunno if the one you linked has dual channel memory. The RX 460 machine wouldn't be too bad, but the CPU is really slow.

runs for around $400 used, It's too bad the rumored Surface with an APU in it isn't out yet.

This is a great deal that just popped up, with a 1660 Ti an i5-9300H for $780 you really cant go wrong

Edit: just noticed the budget lmao, but if you could stretch it a little this would be a killer deal

There's plenty of 1050 or 1050ti laptops that would be around $600 as well, just gotta find one with a 1080p display.

G3 15 laptop has poor display. low color accuracy and Dim display.

Since you are going with the Personal Proramming Laptop. you are looking with the higher ram and CPu but forget the GPU unless a ryzen deal witht he APu which is nice.

how about Acer Aspire E5-573G.

  Spec: Macbook Air 2017

| RAM: 8GB LPDDR3 |

There's really no comparison vs other Ryzen laptops, how can it even have bad thermals with only a 15W CPU? There is an updated version with a 3000 series CPU.

And every laptop is a Chinese laptop lol.

A great overall choice would be something with a Ryzen 5 APU. Since they tend to be cheap and well equipped. Theres many great options in your budget, and cheaping out a bit and going with an R3 is fine too. Those 2 APU's make great laptops

Secondary Laptop (Uni MK2): Ryzen 7 5800HS, Nvidia GTX 1650, Radeon Vega 8 Mobile, 16 GB DDR4 3200 Mhz, 512 GB SSD

2021 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

Meme Machine (Uni MK1): Shintel Core i5 7200U, Nvidia GT 940MX, 24 GB DDR4 2133 Mhz, 256 GB SSD+500GB HDD, 15.6 in TN Display

2016 Acer Aspire E5 575

Retired Laptop (Gearsy MK2): Ryzen 5 2500U, Radeon Vega 8 Mobile, 12 GB 2400 Mhz DDR4, 256 GB NVME SSD, 15.6" 1080p IPS Touchscreen

2017 HP Envy X360 15z (Ryzen)

PC (Gearsy): A6 3650, HD 6530D , 8 GB 1600 Mhz Kingston DDR3, Some Random Mobo Lol, EVGA 450W BT PSU, Stock Cooler, 128 GB Kingston SSD, 1 TB WD Blue 7200 RPM

HP P7 1234 (Yes It's Actually Called That)  RIP

Also im happy to answer any Ryzen Mobile questions if anyone is interested!
