Alternatives to this motherboard?

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

You can get a usb type c bracket you can connect to a usb 3.0 header on the motherboard, or have in front in a 5.25" bay

bracket : 1 type c : https://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-3-1-Type-C-Front-Panel-Hub-Port-Expansion-Bay-to-USB-3-0-20Pin-Bracket-Cable/272299116168?hash=item3f664ac688:g:i8kAAOSwXeJXfGVI

bay : https://www.ebay.com/itm/TYPE-C-USB3-1-USB3-0-to-Motherboard-20Pin-2-5inch-Front-Panel-Bracket-Drive-Bay/362073047063?hash=item544d3c4017:g:Ab4AAOSwdBRZgoL-

These have two m.2  and type c in the back  :

ASRock B450M PRO4-F

ASRock B450M PRO4

ASRock Fatal1ty B450 GAMING K4

ASRock X370 Killer SLI

ASRock Fatal1ty X370 Gaming X

GIGABYTE AORUS B450 PRO

ASUS TUF B450-PRO GAMING

ASRock X470 Master SLI

ASUS ROG STRIX B450-E GAMING

some of these may have a red strip of light or some accent.

Also some of the cheapest may have only SATA M.2 for the 2nd m.2 connector.

GIGABYTE AORUS B450 PRO  looks nice, with 3 pci-e x16 slots spaced nicely , 2 m.2 connectors with heatsinks. Has type c in the back.

It does have some minimal RGB, but you can probably disable it from BIOS... doesn't look too intrusive to me.

Hi, I want t buy this motherboard : https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450 Steel Legend/index.asp I really like the look, and the features suit my needs, but I dislike that it has RGB, I know it can be turned off, but why overpay for the feature I hate and not gonna use? Are there any motherboards without RGB witch similar features? So far, Asus TUF series kinda looks good for that, less RGB than others, but maybe there are better options?

Probably won't find a nonrgb mobo with decent feature set, maybe at the super low end.

It is what it is and even if it would ship without rgb, i doubt they would sell it for less because the additional manufacturing cost is probably neglectable, especially as it would be a super low number run

USB type c is a must, at least 2 m.2, thanks for the suggestions, what if I went to the higher end? RGB all over also? Willing to pay more if it fits all my needs, just need AM4, not limited to b450.

As already pointed out, the "I'm not paying extra for a feature I'll never use" statement is a fallacy.

The price is what it is, there's no cheaper version without RGB so you're not paying extra, you're paying the price it costs.

If you like the board then buy it and disable the RGB.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

I would be willing to pay more even, if nothing comes up, I will just disable the RGB, also, I did not say that "I'm not paying extra for a feature I'll never use", I just was wondering if there are some boards without that feature and if not getting that feature might reduce costs, I did not state nothing definitive like "I'm not paying extra for a feature I'll never use".

Aorus looks fairly minimal in RGB, at least not as RGB laden as the Steel Legend, gonna have to way a bit, all sold out in my area, but I think I'm gonna go with it, thank you for the help.

Seems to me that other than a different phrasing that's exactly what you said?

Your phrasing is definitive, while mine was not. What the issue here? I'm getting GIGABYTE AORUS B450 PRO and disabling RGB. I wholeheartedly hate RGB, so if getting a non RGB board would have cut costs I would have wanted that. It does not, that it.
