G'day everyone,

I currently have a 6600K with a R9 390x and I'm wanting to crossfire it with another GPU. I was looking for second hand graphics cards and I saw a R9 390 for 170 AUD shipped. I was wonder if this is a good idea?

Cheers!

It's still a pretty good card, but check the pricing of rx 480/470 prices first.

Edit: did not see that you have a 390x. Better to sell it and use the money for a better gpu.

What would be a good card I could get if I could sell my R9 390x? I'm also not too sure if I can sell a R9 390x around Adelaide

The r9 390x is still a very good card, the only worthy upgrades would be the 2060 or the rx 5700

I agree that you should trade up.  The R9 390 I had was as hot as a nuclear reactor.  That made it loud to keep temps under control.

Sell the 390 on Ebay.  Buy a new Sapphire 580 Pulse 8GB (not the 4GB).  People often use it for crypto-mining.  You never know what you'll get second hand.  The Pulse works just as well as the Nitro+ but costs a reasonable amount.  It's comparable to a Nvidia 1070, that costs 80% more, according to the comparisons I've seen.

I don't know if Crossfire died.  People overhyped SLI, NVLINK, and Crossfire.  You don't get twice the speed when you get another card.  It's more like 60 fps on one card increases to 80 fps with two cards.  You need a decent motherboard and games that support Crossfire when using AMD chips.  For a card like the RX 580, you might as well trade up if you have enough money for two.  If you have the money for a Titan, then, screw it, get two.... and buy me one while you're at it.
