Adding a Quadro RTX 4000 to Workstation to expand to 6 monitors?

I just moved to a new company where I received a HP Z840 workstation to use as my main PC

At my previous job, I had three separate PC's w/ 2 monitors each linked together with a WEY Keyboard...

Right now the workstation I received (Xeon E5-2630 v4 and Quadro k2200) is only linked to two monitors, but I need to expand the output to six monitors

The Quadro k2200 seems to support a maximum of 4 monitors max and I was wondering if adding a Quadro 4000 would create any issues with the workstation (and if a six monitor output is possible w/ these two gpu's in the same system)

Would prefer to add a Quadro 4000 rather than a second K2200 for the additional CUDA cores.

Thanks in advance.

You could also add something cheap just for the extra monitors, if you need the extra cuda cores for you're workload then go for the Quadro 4000 as your main GPU, I'm not sure how Quadros work but consumer gpus (like the 2070 for example) won't do SLI if they are mismatched.

if you just need extra monitors consider getting some entry level consumer GPUs like a 1650 or even cheaper ones.

Specs: Motherboard: Asus X470-PLUS TUF gaming (Yes I know it's poor but I wasn't informed) RAM: Corsair VENGEANCE® LPX DDR4 3200Mhz CL16-18-18-36 2x8GB

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X          Case: Antec P8     PSU: Corsair RM850x                        Cooler: Antec K240 with two Noctura Industrial PPC 3000 PWM

Drives: Samsung 970 EVO plus 250GB, Micron 1100 2TB, Seagate ST4000DM000/1F2168 GPU: EVGA RTX 2080 ti Black edition

So if I were to have the Quadro 4000 and the K2200 in the same system, the Quadro 4000 would be the GPU running the processes and the K2200 would just be driving the extra monitors, correct?

This is a company expense, so as price (as long as it's not outrageous) isn't as much of a concern as much as everything just working out of box/nothing to hacky (seems geforce + quadro requires a ton of tweaking). I believe my corporation's IT guys would have to do the installation anyways (compliance issues) so the more plug-and-play the solution, the better.

As clarification when I mentioned the 2070 I was only giving an example, williamcll is right a very basic gpu could work well in this situation although a 1650 only supports 3 display outputs. Another option would be to use a displayport mst hub:

That should not be having any issue, just make sure your programs are using the right card when you run them.

How would you check this?

Nvidia control panel, mostly the global and application settings.

Thanks. So to be clear, the assignment of programs to a certain card is dependent upon the NVIDIA control settings, not which monitor the program is open in?

Thanks again!
