Alternatively you could get a DVI/Displayport to HDMI cable/adapter.

But that is possible to do, assuming your CPU has built in graphics, like a Ryzen CPU that ends with a G (e.g. Ryzen 2400G) or an A8/A10 like CPU.

If you have one of those, you can manually turn on the iGPU (as that gets turned off when a separate GPU is installed).

I've got a Ryzen 5 1600x, guess it doesn't have the IGPU

The 1600X does not have an iGPU so those onboard ports are effectively dead.

Unfortunately doesn't, no.

You should be able to get a simple DVI/Displayport to HDMI cable for under 15 or so USD from any tech store. If your monitor is 1920x1080, any cable will work, but if it's a higher resolution monitor be sure to check if the cable supports that.
