The warning message in red is regarding the BIOS version. B450 motherboards, while physically compatible, came out before Ryzen 3rd gen, so you'd need an older CPU to update the BIOS. If you contact AMD support, they'll lend you one as long as you have proof of purchase for your motherboard. As for the orange ones, they hardly matter, just take into account what they describe for when you plan future upgrades.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

B450 old, Ryzen 5 3600 new. Update BIOS with a borrowed CPU from AMD, just keep your Newegg receipt for the motherboard.

Ignore orange warnings on PCpp.

out of the box, MSI motherboards labeled MAX are updated for Ryzen 3rd gen, but they don't show up on pcpp. X570 motherboards work too, but they're a touch expensive, with the cheapest coming in above $200 CAD.

The other alternative is to get a motherboard with a BIOS flash button, so you can update it without a CPU installed. In your price range, an option such as the B450 gaming plus would work pretty well.

imaa just use the upgraded motherboard

just get the B450-A Pro, download the file from MSI's product webpage and put it in a thumbdrive, then if it doesn't boot right away you plug in the thumbdrive into the motherboard and push the button at the back.

show him this, if he can transfer files with a thumbdrive, he can flash the BIOS with it.

all X570 boards will work with the 3600 without needing a BIOS update.
