Hi Everyone,

I know this question has been asked but I still need some help deciding.

I currently have the following GPUs available to me:

MSI GTX 1060 (6GB)

MSI Amor RX 570 (8GB)

Currently gaming on a 32" - 2560 x 1440 - 144hz monitor (w/ Freesync).  For the record; I'm more interested a smoother gaming experience than max FPS.

My PC: Ryzen 3700x, 16GB DDR4, RM650 PSU, B450M Steel Legend.

I've tried both GPU and they're very close... just wondering which you would recommend over the other and way...

With a CPU like that, you should be looking into a 5700 or 5700XT, or an RTX 2070/2070S

Current PC (Second Build) : CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (OC @3.8GHz, sometimes pushed to 4GHz) RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4-2666 (OC @2733Mhz, sometimes pushed to 2800 for testing purposes)   GPU: PowerColor Radeon RX570 8gb MOBO: ASRock B450m Pro4 SSD: Inland 120gb HDD: 1tb Seagate Barracuda PSU: Cooler Master Masterwatt 500w Lite Case: NZXT H500 OS: Arch Linux+ KDE Plasma [Desktop Environment] & Windows 10 Pro [Broken due to grub 50% of the time]

Accessories: Mouse: Alienware AW958 Elite Keyboard: Corsair K63 Wireless  Headphones: Samsung Level On Pro

Phone (waiting on arrival): Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The 1060 6gb is a bit faster, and if the monitor is compatible with nvidia's freesync standard you can use freesync too. However, why would you get a 1440p 144hz display with a gtx 1060 6gb?

This^

This PC is less for gaming and more for productivity. I tried a 32" 1440p monitor at a colleague's house about an year ago and was astonished by the extra display real estate. Powering through 2 tabs side by side was very practical with the higher DPI and even 1+0.5+0.5 tabs. -Compared to my single 24" 144hz monitor.

I got this monitor cheap from that same colleague- who switched to dual 43" 4K TVs (He actually has one in portrait mode w/ hand-made bracket/stand thing LOL).

Back on topic, I have no issue gaming in window mode at 1080p for more hardware intensive games; but again this setup is more for productivity and less more gaming.

Though it seems everyone is recommending the GTX 1060; at the loss of native Freesync support.

Quick Edit: I may transition to a RX 5700 XT or RX 5700 at some point. It's not a priority at the moment as the games I currently play don't require that kind of firepower (yet). (Borderlands 2 co-op, minecraft, Killing Floor 2, Division 2, etc).

I picked the 3700x over the 3600 for longevity (not to be confused with "future proofing"). There is strong evidence to suggest that the extra cores/threads will translate to tangible performance in games in 1-2 years.

if the suggestion was just between the 1060 and the 570, the 1060 is a bit faster. However an rx 580 is faster than a 1060, costs less and has freesync support too
