I'm about to pull the trigger on CPU - MB - MEM upgrade for my system, but I can't decide on which MB to get for Ryzen 3700x.

My budget is around 200$ but I don't mind stretching it if it will yield major improvement.

My top contenders for now:

X570:

ASRock X570 STEEL LEGEND (or the WIFI ver)

ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS

GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ELITE (or the WIFI ver)

* On-board WIFI is not a factor for me.

X470:

ASRock X470 Taichi

B350/B450:

Should this even be considered?

Does any of these stands out as a clear winner?

Should something that is not in the list be considered?

Thanks ahead :)

All 3 of the x570 boards aren't bad tbh. I'd get the elite for bios flashback.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

I'd avoid Gigabyte

and i wouldn't

aorus elite or tuf as best sub-200's

and the prime p just below that for x570

but even something like a tomahawk will easily do, so you can spend your money elsewhere

Definitely X570 at this price point. I'd avoid Gigabyte, though, for AM4. Get the TUF or SL

I wouldn’t either.

out of those 3 X570 boards I would recommend the aurus elite

as for B450 board a tomahawk (max) would be my recommendation

Don't go ASRock for X570 pretty much besides the Taichi, and even that has its own problems.
Gigabyte or ASUS are your best bet, both boards are pretty similar.

I personally went with an older chipset (X370) and didn't have any issues but I'm yet to play with overclocking.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

Yeah, not sure why you wouldn't recommend Gigabyte.

For the ones the OP suggested I'd go either X570 TUF as it's probably the best ~$200 X570 board for its money. The Aorus Elite WiFi is a close second.

I would go for the ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS, as it seems to have a smarter power delivery than the Gigiabyte one (would probably yield better results for over clocking).

The only problem with the ASUS TUF is that it has a realtek lan which is said to be inferior in comparison with intel lan present on the gigabyte one.

Genuine question: Are you going to get the use out of the extra 2 cores/4 threads over the 3600/3600X? The price difference is somewhere in the region of 16GB RAM. I bought a 3700X and am happy (Although will be buying an AIO because my stock fan just loves running at 2700RPM), although would likely have been just as happy with a 3600X

I'm using a B450 Tomahawk with no issues (Upgraded the BIOS myself, didn't buy the max version).

The Steel Legend has been running really good, don't know which problems are you talking about.

Besides great price for the features it has been rock solid, running 24/7 with overclock.

Not to mention it's one of the best looking mobos of it's price in my opinion, but that's personal.

It's inferior in terms of components used compared to the competition at its price point. That's enough of a reason to go for another board since they pretty much cost the same.

Ended up going with the ASRock X570 Steel Legend WiFi ax (and Ballistix sport lt in white to match it ?

Main reasons:

  • Difference in VRM shouldn't be an issue for 3700X
  • Better audio
  • Intel lan
  • looks
  • ax wifi (although not super important for me)
  • I have great past experience with ASRock (currently running Z77 extreme4)

Thanks for the help!
