Get Gigabyte Aorus board. They're much better for overclocking.

Stay away from EVGA G3 PSUs, get G2 instead.

I would go with air cooler rather than AiO, but that's my preference.

Other than that its good.

thanks will do with the psu. keeping the board he wont OC. Asus is just a little better RMA wise her ein my area.  I also prefer AIr and wanter to get him a dark rock but he will be moving this pc pretty often so an AIO would suit him better

You can get a faster nvme ssd for less than the 860 evo. Pick up a 550-650w RMx instead of the G3.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

If he is not overclocking, then why bother getting an AiO in the first place?

In that case I would get a smaller one. 360mm is just pointless.

Even then a good air tower will provide excellent cooling except for the most demanding oc.

Always frustrating when that happens. When someone is set on a particular part there is little point in trying to convince them otherwise. If you do get them to change anything that goes "wrong" or isn't as expected is going to be your fault.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Neither company actually makes power supplies, they get OEMs to build it for them. Plus you're comparing a sample size of a few dead units compared to millions of perfectly working ones, it's nowhere near a fair comparison.

true and I agree with that

the RMX units seem to be good value though so will definitely consider it

but might be running with a seasonic focus gold instead. They seem to be more reliable than either of the other 2

Not Herman Mcpootis but I would not recommend an nvme ssd given the prices in Canada. Get either the 480gb or 1TB Team L5 Lite 3D.
