Are my stock voltages and temps too high? 1.42v stock ryzen 3600 set on auto.

Just turned on my new build first time.

ryzen 3600 Corsair h115i platinum plugged into cpu opt. Looks like my cpu temp is 45 degrees and core voltage is automatically around 1.42ish v. Is it meant to be this high as stock?

1.42V is right around the max for Ryzen chips while overclocked afaik, is any auto overclocking enabled?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

No I just turned it on. It’s set to auto,

first even boot up. What could be wrong with it?

So everything is on auto? Does it stay st 1.42 or does it fluctuate? What does ryzen master report

What is ryzen master? I have not downloaded any os yet only just booted the pc up first time into bios.

it fluctuates between like 1.36 and 1.42 mostly around 1.41

This is normal at 100% stock settings. At idle/low usage, voltages will always be high. My 3700x at idle on stock would sit between 1.45-1.5v and would drastically drop when under load, usually down into the 1.1-1.2v range.

It’s normal? Internet was telling me not. It won’t fry the cpu or anything right?

Then that's normal. Bios doesn't exactly idle in a C state

no it wont, however I dont like it and neither do others, for good reason as it is high. I personally have mine set to 1.35v at 4.2ghz in BIOS.

The real max for Zen is 1.45v. anything under that is perfectly safe. The thermals are also excellent. Tj max on Zen is 90

Thermals are good? Cuz I saw people on the internet sitting st 30c with air coolers and this aio is only doing 45 with 18c ambient.

i know some air can be better ok

You are not idle currently. The bios doesn't enter an idle c state. You are in a high performance state running at max auto clock and voltage

Let me guess, MSI bios?

No asus b450 f

Hmm, odd. Asus doesn't usually have such heavy overvoltage on their AM4 boards. Anyhow, the bios runs notably hotter than windows idle because the CPU is currently in a high performance state and not in a low power c state like in windows. Once you boot up Ryzen master, I expect lower clocks, voltages and temps at idle

There are fine but in bios the pc isn’t ‘idle’ - install windows 10 and see temps then and report back.

If you have done no manual oc’ing I would t worry much. Just pbo doing its thing I believe

If you think it’s anything extra out of ordinary do let me know if you think it’s worth emailing where I purchased the board from (scan).

Nah, it's nothing to worry about - probably overprovisioning for the X models.

o oh

I mean it probably detects a six-core and automatically gives it enough voltage for an X model - could have been done to save BIOS space since we know that was a bit of a tight squeeze with motherboard manufacturers not used to motherboards supporting 3-4 generations of processors

  • 4 weeks later...

hello there i have a r5 3600 i am in the aorus elite mainboard x570 and i am using the stok cooler

for now and the temps is 45-50 idle in windows 10 ryzen balance plan and in stress test it goes 93 celcius thats normal ? always the case is the old cooler master elite 330 so the airflow is not very good....

is safe to work it like that

sorry for my poor english...

its probably safe as your not gonna be constantly stressing it in games.. You should really get some better airflow there though.
