Hey so just last night i build my new PC

3700x

msi b450 tomahawk max

32gb Crucial Ballistix Sport

1tb 970 m.2 nvme

According to task manager last bios time was 31.3 seconds? My previous build with 4790k and a normal ssd would boot in sub 14-15 seconds.

I've read some issues about this on forums like Overclockers but i can't seem to find a fix anywhere for it. Is it a motherboard problem or something to do with the chip?

I also saw on their to change it from legacy+uefi boot to just uefi and no change. I've checked the boot order and my m.2 is the main boot drive i made sure to even unplug all existing drives to make sure it was the #1 on the list.

Please help this is driving me crazy :(

Some models of motherboards are slower than others due to added functionality and more hardware that may need to be checked upon boot.

If it makes you feel any better, I'd love to see my X99 rig boot anywhere near as fast as your B450 does.  Mine takes around a minute to get to the desktop.

Is your SSD running st full speed? I recommend CrystalDiskMaek and CrystalDiskInfo to check.

You are running a fairly new processor, have you tried updating the BIOS?

The max board comes with the updated bios for the new ryzen.

I've been googling around and have seen quite a few people complaining about post and boot times as 30-40 seconds really is a joke if im honest.
