Hi all. If this issue has been brought up/resolved elsewhere please link me as im v frustrated and would like to find a solution.

I recently did a major system upgrade and after installing my new parts my system posts but doesnt output a display. Below is my system configuration:

- Ryzen 7 3800x (using the box cooler)

- Gigabyte Aorus X470 Ultra Gaming

- 16GB Trident Z Neo RGB (2x 8Gb)

- EVGA GTX 970 FTW

- EVGA Supernova 850w 80 plus gold

- Samsung 970 Evo 512gb

I have tried 3 different monitors. DVI, HDMI & Displayport. I have also tried a known working GPU (an R7 260x). I have also tried another known working PSU (Corsair 550w). I have reseated everything including CPU, RAM, GPU. I have tried different PCiE slots. I have tried posting outside of the chassis with a single dim of ram. I have tried different ram.

The parts I replaced as part of the upgrade was the mobo cpu and ram (was a i7 7800x, x299 board and corsair ram).

Any suggestions are much appreciated. The only things I'm yet to do is a bios flash but as i cant get anything to display I cannot do that (unless there is another way to do it). If i cant figure it out I'm going to be forced to take my PC to a PC repair place and pay a fortune for repairs as I run a business and need my desktop up and running again.

Is there a marking on the mobo's box that the BIOS on it supports Ryzen 3000 - series CPUs? X470 - boards are for the previous generation, ie. Ryzen 2000 - series, and they need a new BIOS to support Ryzen 3000 - series, so if there is no such marking, you'll need a BIOS-update.

No it doesnt have a 3000 series ready sticker. I knew this going in and i was expecting to be able to boot to the bios so i could i flash an updated bios however I cannot get anything to display to be able to do that. Is having a 3000 series cpu in the system preventing me from posting properly even just to the bios?

Yes.

Do i have any options or do I just need to get my hands on a 2000 series cpu to flash the bios?

You could also call a local PC-repair shop and ask them if they'd be willing to do a quick BIOS-update on your mobo. They most likely have to do that reasonably often, so they're likely to have a couple of older Ryzens lying around just for that.
