Question? Why the 9900K? The Ryzen 9 3900X will do better in almost anything, likely including future games.....

 

Most boards with good VRMs will have RGB... you can turn it off though.

Pretty much any midrange-high end motherboard on the market just becomes a clean gunmetal/black board once you turn off the RGB in the BIOS or software. Only exceptions are some ASRock ones that have white or red accents, there might be one or two MSI ones with those too?

I dont see the point as i can get an i9 9900k for around 450 new and ryzen 9 is going for 650 us new. I dont do any streaming or video editing. so i see the i9 as a better all around gaming cpu. i9 works slightly harder than the ryzen 9 from what ive seen and still performs slightly better.

are you telling me RGB or lack of will directly reflect the quality of VRMs on a MoBo?

I think that is spot on for what im searching for. M.2, expansion pcie if im feeling rich enough later. only need 2 dimm for 16g ram. Air cooling is my goal. since water AIO is kind of a joke with their price/performance. ty for the suggestion im going to look into this. I'm seeing this MoBo only supports 8th tho

No, but most (almost all) boards with great VRMs will also have RGBs.

Get an MSI board as they seemed to have the better VRM solution for the price.  The EVGA boards are excellent as well and probably the most "barebones" since they focus on being great OC boards.

I would consider the 9900KF if you are using it for gaming.  Have seen deals for 410-420.  At that value, for gaming PC (+/- streaming) it is king.  3900x of course blows it out of the water in performance multithreaded.  A little pricier.  If you are going to do some rendering/productivity that wins it.  But if you are going to just game and or stream, its hard to beat the 9900KF.  

 

3900x, to this day, I still cant find.  It is 530 now, and out of stock on newegg.  I am on waitlists at newegg, amazon, B+H, still havent heard a peep about it being available (since release).  If it was available and at MSRP that would be one thing but, it aint either of those right now.  Furthermore, the time where we need that many cores/threads for video games is so far in the future that you would be buying a whole new PC at that time (they are just getting to 6-8 cores right now).  The 3900x is amazing, but not needed for people that arent doing a lot of rendering or productivity.
