Hi! I'm currently looking into getting a gaming/streaming laptop and have a list of laptops that I am interested in, but wanted opinions/recommendations. I am looking at the 1660 Ti in all models as I don't think I will be using the RTX graphics effectively for the cost, but I am still debating it. I do prefer the clean design of the Lenovo/Dell/MSI, but you get more for the price in Acer. I also do like the idea of having a metal based laptop, as it feels more durable. [Price ranges depending on model and current discounts]

Lenovo Y540 (plastic lid, bottom & metal body, good keyboard layout, easy upgrade, small trackpad and hardware buttons, nose cam, big charger) [$1100~1300]

Lenovo Y740 (metal with plastic bottom, has thunderbolt, easy upgrade, weird macro-keys, small trackpad and hardware buttons, nose cam, big charger) [$1400~1800]

Acer Predator 300 (metal with plastic, good price, nice trackpad, 2 SSD NVMe slots, a bit gamer-y design) [$1200]

Dell G7 15 (has SD card and thunderbolt, easy upgrade, runs hot) [$1700]

MSI GS65 (metal, maybe, the difficult upgradability and the price is putting me off a bit) [$1400~1750]

Let me know what you think about these models or if you have other suggestions to look at!

Thanks ❤️

I took a look at HP Omen 15 and I do like the new model, but there isn't much information/reviews that I can take note from. MSI GL65 looks to be coming out, but there isn't much information about that either. GL63 has some good ports, but personally I'm not a big fan of the red accents.

Alright im going to give you a new option. The laptop I have is a Zephyrus G. It has a GTX 1660 TI, a Ryzen 7 3750H, optional 8gb or 16gb, 60hz screen or a 120hz screen. The laptop also has a massive 76WHR battery. Ive been gettin about 5-6 hours of daily use with it browsing the web, doing doc work etc.... The specs should meet everything your looking for and should be cheaper than what youve listed. Now the laptop is part plastic and part metal but the plastic is not the cheap crap, its high quality.

HOWEVER. Do note that it does not have a webcam. Thats one of the sacrifices they've made to bring the price so low for what your gettin. Now that being said, I dont imagine your using a laptop webcam given how shit they are. So that shouldn't be a problem. Linus did a review on it:
