What's the difference between EVGA G+ and G3?

So my PSU died and I've narrowed it down to these two candidates. The G+ costs 90€ while G3 costs 110€. They have the same wattage btw. So will I somehow benefit from the 110€ one or is it just a scam?

They are different in used technology, performance, build quality, noise, cables, and protections - pretty much everything two PSUs can be different at. Exact differences depend on which particular models you're comparing, which you haven't specified.

 

Maybe there are other better options for the price? Where are you buying from? And for what setup?

1. Well one is EVGA superNova 750G3 and the other is EVGA superNova 750w G+ both are 80plus Gold
2. Unfortunately not according to pcpartpicker
3. Im buying from a local retailer but here's the link if you want EVGA G+ And EVGA G3
4. For ryzen 5 2600x and gtx 1070ti neither of them are overclocked
5. So basically I used a 550w PSU for my setup. It served a year and turned off every time I did something really intensive (like VR)

That system will consume <300W.

The G+ series is often reffered as G1+.

G1+ / G+ is a Tier A PSU while the G3 is Tier B. The G3 would have been Tier A if there weren't some issues it has.

 

As I own a G3 550W, I'm quite interested in how yours died and why it had no warranty (since those do have 7 years of warranty).

EVGA G3 550w come with a 7 year warranty. The G3 has only been available for a few years, so if you bought it new you should still have warranty available on it. Contact EVGA and see if you can get it replaced under warranty. That is assuming it is the PSU causing your issues.

The store did not lose the reciept. 

 

And if you've registered the unit with EVGA (online), you can RMA directly through them.

Did you buy from a physical retail store or an online retailer? For online purchases you should have an email receipt as well as an order invoice in your account on the website.
