Spec:

Mobo MSI Z97 Gaming 3

GPU MSI RX 570 Armor Mk2 8GB OC

HDD WD 1TB

AIO Corsair H100i Platinum

+ 6 more corsair RGB fans

Corsair Commander Pro

just bought Corsair HX 850 yesterday, maybe it's overkill for my current specs, I bought it because I plan to upgrade to R3700X and RX5700

so the PSU have selection of single and multiple rail. in some forum i read, single rail is the most preferred. so OK i set my PSU in single rail. i press the ON switch, well at first my PC turns on, after 2-3 seconds, it shuts down, and then turns on again, after a few seconds off again, and so it went like that over and over again. i check my cables again, and everything looks like in place correctly. i try turning it on again, still same problem. turns on, then off, then on, then off, like in my mind it seems my PC doesn't have enough juice. then randomly, i switch to multiple rail, and wow my PC is running well, played WoT for like hours and everything seems well.

question: should I be concern? is there something wrong with my PSU?

really apreciate your thoughts :)

How do you have all this stuff hooked up?

Like the +6 fans.  Plugged into the PSU or the motherboard or all into the Commander?

Hi! thanks for asking.. the setup is as it suppose to be, so total 8 fans right (i use lan li pc011d, which have slot for 9 fans)

for RGB, of course i will be needing 2 corsair lighting hub, 5 RGB plug to the first lighting hub, 3 RGB plug went to the second lighting hub. each lighting hub needs power (SATA). both lighting hub plugged to commander.

for PWM, 6 PWM plug went to corsair commander pro, and of course commander needs power too (SATA), 2 PWM plug went to the AIO H100i platinum where it cools the radiator, which of course this AIO needs power (SATA). USB for the AIO went to the commander

so the only thing that plugged to my mobo is the commander and the AIO pump.

hope this answer your question :D

It doesn't because you're not telling me what's plugged into the PSU.

Yes... a number of SATA connectors are needed, but do you have everything going into one SATA cable off the PSU?  Two SATA cables?  Etc.?

oh OK now I understand you question.

so you already know it's a modular PSU, each cable have 4 sata, since i need 5 sata power (2 lighting hub, 1 commander, 1 AIO, 1 HDD), i use 2 cables. for the sake of cable management, 2 lighting hub, 1 commander, 1 AIO goes to the first cable, 2nd cable only for HDD.

what do you have in mind?

OK will do it after i finish my shift.

i'm literally curious, do you think what i did to the sata power cable have something to do with my PC won't turn on correctly on single rail?

thanks! :D
