Hi,

I have MX150 2GB 15W (checked and 100% correct) in Lenovo ThinkPad T580 paired with i7-8650U and 8GB RAM.

There is common problem with MX150 GPUs (and as I read also with other similar mobile GPUs) that temp limit is set around 60-70 °C and then performance is dropped hard. GPU gets from normal ~1500Mhz to even ~400Mhz and gets almost equal performance as integrated UHD620 :D

There must be some way to override this limit to higher numbers because even it is ultrabook it is surely capable of staying around 80 °C all time. I understand that Lenovo is trying to protect chip but as I know temps to ~90 °C are "fine" for silicon...

Can we together find some final solution to make this limit higher and incerace performance of MX150 devices? Many people have problem with this as I read.

PS: We must find a way :D Or I will just sell it and buy Carbon or Razer Blade instead :D:D

The only thing I can think of is to download MSI Afterburner and see if you can get around it like that, though I can't help but feel the MX150 is locked down so much between power draw and thermal limits that it's not going to be that easy.

MSI AB can change max temp/power limit?

If the card hasn't blocked it, yes. But given how locked down the MX150 usually is, I doubt you'll be able to do anything.

i usually lower the CPU to 60% maximum load for better thermal. i would not recommend something heavy with MX150

MX150 is here because of heavy load. If you do not need heavy load, you should buy it without it. What is the point of dedicated GPU with performance as iGPU
