There is a free Remote Desktop.... but those are VNC based, and not RDP based. It is called RealVNC and you have TightVNC.

But good luck, as those are not aware of things that changes on the screen. So you often have drawing problems, or performance issues as it streams the whole screen like a video and not only the window/dialogbox etc that displayed on the screen and only on a visual change, and doesn't have cache or encryption system.

Of course, VNC like RDP based remote desktop, you need someone on the other side to set it up and run it.

 

Your other option to connect to a Windows (Windows 10 and needs to be enabled) or most Linux distros is via SSH. It also needs to be setup on both sides, and is command line based solution (you can use X Windows Server if you are connecting to a Linux based machine that has a GUI, to get a GUI interface... but experience will vary based on the program, some don't work, or don't work correctly when you do this, some X Windows Server are better than others. The good ones are not free, from my experience)

Can you please describe a bit more what you plan on doing and what you want?

Your question doesn't really make sense with the limited amount of info you gave us. It's like asking "are there car websites, but free?". Without knowing what you want (RDP is a protocol) or why we can't really recommend anything.

Don't know is it working, but it suppose it is, otherwise whole idea of creating software that doesn't work would be strange. :)

I'd advise against recommending something if you don't even know if it works...

 

Not to mention it's a pretty sketchy sounding website. Not even HTTPS... and "FreeRDP" sounds like a scam/virus waiting to happen.

I'm a person who likes to try new stuff. If someone wants - may use it or not. If you're using only well known applications then you probably miss lot of great but not so popular ones.

 

I for sure would try this software if I need it. I'm using lot of useful tools - and I feel that I can do more than just using computer with few programs and being afraid all the time about unknown software.

 

And SSL you can have for free without problem. I'm not sure why ssl is required for downloading free software - someone may look what do you do and download that program too? There is no payment so...

Sure, but if someone asks for help and you give advice w/o any knowledge on what you're giving advice about...

 

That's as if I were to see an advertisement on TV that said "buy these pills because they make you 5x stronger in 1 week", recommending them to someone just to find out the pills actually causes your heart to fail after 1 week.

 

People should be able to do research themselves, but I think it's better to pretend no one will.
