Looking for a new phone around £300-400.

Currently looking at the:

Google Pixel 3a (£349)

Samsung A70 (£369)

Huawei P20 (£350) or P30 Lite (£300)

Which of these is the best value, in terms of quality, OS, camera, features etc, or do you have any alternate recommendations?

Not looking to buy right now, so if there's anything new coming soonish then that may be an alternative.

Thanks

I think between these the most solid choice in terms of price/performance would be the p30 lite, however my personal recommendation would be the Xiaomi mi 9t

Interesting, any particular reason for those two?

I've never heard of the xiaomi but I like the telescopic camera thing haha.

To be honest for comparing phones i use an italian site called hdblog.it. It's very useful if you want to look at the general specs of a phone and put them side to side

The p30 lite is the weakest of the bunch, however it's not that far behind and has a nicer camera (second only to the A70). However i have a sweet spot for Xiaomi (it's a chinese brand like Huawei, but very popular and respected) since i have a Redmi Note 6 Pro and it's pretty good all around. The mi 9t in particolar is one of their top of the line phones, and offers slightly better performance than the others, has an on par screen, and has a really nice camera, all while costing less than the others (obviously with the exception of the p30 lite)

Xiaom Mi 9T is hard to beat in terms of overall hardware value. However it might not be the best choice if you intend to take lots of selfies or rely on face unlock.

I plan to get one myself. Great big oled screen with not the slightest notch. Healthy 4000mAh battery. 6GB RAM and SD730 chipset is power efficient and performs just like a flagship. The only thing close to matching it in specs and price is the Realme X.

Thanks for the info. I'm now considering buying it too. But you forgot to mention that it has a headphone jack!

I'm a little bothered by the fact that it has no microSD card support so the 64GB version might be a little too short. I also wish there was an Android One variant.
