Hi y'all I'm new on the forum.

So about month or so I've built new PC

Ryzen 5 2600

Gigabyte B450m DS3

16GB DDR4 G.Skill Aegis

Gigabyte RX 580 8GB Gaming GPU

Thermaltake Smart SE730 modular psu

Kingston 240GB SSD

WD 1TB HDD

And yesterday I bought Arctic Cooler Freezr 34 esports DUO

And now I was getting some parts building Gaming rig for my wife

Got an Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 4GB gpu

I swaped it into my rig to test it out a bit and heard weak strange buzz like, static sound coming outa GPU when I run games or unigine heaven once I close it all goes fine. (Now u think coil whine but wait) after that I swaped in my RX 580 and had the same exact sound coming from it which was never there before the swap...

Any advice will be really helpful.

Thnx

Well i've been using RX 580 over a month now never had that problem. Until I put RX 480 in my pc to test it.

And I forgot to mention when I swaped RX 480 in my pc newest drivers couldn't recognise the GPU so I did DDU uninstall and installed 17.x.x version which worked with RX 480.. Could that cause this issue?

Coil whine usually happens at very high framerate. Basically between whine and no whine can be just a matter of using V-Sync or frame limiter. Maybe you used it before, but have V-Sync disabled now. Whch would explain why now even your old card does this and it didn't before. They generally don't degrade to get coil whine later. It's either there or it's not.

Update:

So I came home from work and took my time to take everything out of the case and inspect properly.

Apparently I can hear that crackling/buzzing/static noise in the PSU when I put my ear next to it, and in the GPU almost 100% sure that it is comming from PCie slot.

Any Ideas?

Update:

So after testing another PSU on my rig sound was still there, and came to an conclusion that it was always there but cuz the sound is so weak, zou can hear it only when you put your ear really close to GPU figured it was always there I just couldn't hear it cuz well AMD stock cooler was a bit louder than this Freezr 34 esports DUO, when back in the case you can't really hear it.

So I guess problem solved.
