Posted August 26, 2019 So I'm out here looking for a 2k 144hz monitor with as much color accuracy as possible. Pretty much 10-20% of the reviews on most good options around $300-400 are complaints of DOA, dead pixels, bad RMA, or screen glitches. I'm pretty overwhelmed on what to get since I'm coming off of a 23" 1080p 60Hz HP monitor that since 8 years hasn't had a single issue and was hoping to get an upgrade that would last even longer. Also any help on 27" vs 32" would be fantastic. Here are the ones I'm currently looking at, does anybody have experience with these? Posted August 26, 2019 haven't gotten a "fancy" monitor since some Ultrasharp, but over the course of 7+ monitors (3+ dell, 2 lg, 1 asus), i have never gotten one with dead pixels. used to work for a call center that upgraded CRTs to LCDs and they went Dell and had no DOAs, either (wishing i had asked about dead pixels now) you're probably seeing just the vocal minority with issues and not the many many more that had no issues Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1098067-monitor-purchasing-woes-does-every-panel-come-with-dead-pixels/#findComment-12840780 Share on other sites
 Posted August 26, 2019 Keep in mind that people who complain about the dead pixels are the people who "got panels with dead pixels" and not necessarily the majority of the purchases, since most monitors are purchased at stores/bestbuy/etc to avoid excessive shipping charges that would be incurred from buying online. Now as for, how many have dead pixels, how many is acceptable. The number of acceptable "Dead" pixels is 4. And those pixels are only acceptable if they are "stuck" pixels near the edge, not in the center of the screen, or un-lit pixels. In the case of unlit pixels, these are basically factory defects. Stuck pixels might be simply be cold and might fix themselves after a some use. So I'd suggest RMA'ing any panel with dead pixels immediately, but maybe give yourself a week if you see a stuck pixel to see if it resolves once the panel has been used a bit. With that said though, a stuck pixel might not even be noticed on a 4K screen less than 32". Dust on the monitor, or droplets from talking/sneezing might look like a stuck pixel unless you clean the surface, and that's why it might not be noticed.
