Why a 9700K as opposed to a 3700X?

No SSD?

An SSD is in no way shape or form useless or overpriced.

You can pick up a 240GB one for under $40

First off, Samsung doesn't represent the SSD market.

Second off, where tf are you getting the prices? This SSD is 512GB and costs around $150..

You seem to be painfully misinformed my dude..

Here's a 1TB SSD for under $100, not going to comment on if it's the best on the market but still

Yea, there are cheap SSDs out there, from a lot of manufacturers in fact.

OP either watched an old video or is pulling the numbers from where the sun never shines..

Maybe 2 years ago, but this year SSD prices dropped a lot. And if you haven't used a computer with an SSD before, you are going to love one as the difference is night and day.

Check out this decent performance 500GB SSD's price:

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ft8j4D/crucial-mx500-500gb-25-solid-state-drive-ct500mx500ssd1

It's $65. SSDs used to cost upwards of 10 times more than hard drives for the space they gave, but that's a thing of the past now. It is very much recommended.

As a PSU enthusiast, I sugges you take a look at which PSU you buy. There's a world of difference between the cheapest, lowest end and a good power supply, and that can be the difference between your computer flat out dying because of a lightning strike or blackout, or living through such an event.

Usually the way we do new builds here on LTT is we ask you a couple different things: your budget, what you'll use the computer for, and whether you already have a monitor / mouse / keyboard. Then you'll get a couple suggestions for builds which you can start on :)

~Moved to New Builds and Planning

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Computer having a hard time powering on? Troubleshoot it with this guide. (Currently looking for suggestions to update it into the context of <current year> and make it its own thread)
